Never give up.

Dony Permedi's animated short film, Kiwi, has been named most adorable video in the inaugural YouTube Video Awards.

The film, which began as a master's thesis in animation, is about a flightless kiwi bird who embarks on a fatal mission to achieve his dream of flying.

Mori deserves medal

Major Michael Mori should be awarded a medal for his sterling and never failing support he has given David Hicks. He has always been the ray of light in the unjust treatment metered out to David, the Hicks family and in turn all Australians. Thank you Michael. I just hope that the Howard government fail to be re-elected. God helps us if they are.

Matisyahu - King without a crown

I love this young jewish boy's voice and songs of praise. Reminds me so much of The Police when they first hit the punk/new wave scene. Simple, tight riffs. Great band. Enjoy the music clip and interview.

Zappa's finest

As a Zappa-head I have long amired the man's use of words, that is, those not in his lyrics.

Classic FZ quotes:
"I'm probably more famous for sitting on the toilet than for anything else that I do."
"A wise man once said, never discuss philosophy or politics in a disco environment."
"I've been in discos around the world. I've made a very thorough sociological study of discos ... As long as people want to get laid, there will be something like a disco -- because that's the main social function of a discotec.
"When god created Republicans, he gave up on everything else."
"For the record, folks; I never took a shit on stage and the closest I ever came to eating shit anywhere was at a Holiday Inn buffet in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1973."
"I don't give a fuck if they remember me at all."
"The most important thing to do in your life, is to not interfere with somebody else's life."
"The first thing you have to do if you want to raise nice kids, is you have to talk to them like they are people instead of talking to them like they're property."
"Remember there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over."
"There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life."
"The more boring a child is, the more the parents, when showing off the child, receive adulation for being good parents-- because they have a tame child-creature in their house."
"I think it's really tragic when people get serious about stuff. It's such an absurdity to take anything really serious ... I make an honest attempt not to take anything seriously: I worked that attitude out about the time I was eighteen, I mean, what does it all mean when you get right down to it, what's the story here? Being alive is so weird."
"Tobacco is my favorite vegetable."
"Let's not be too rough on our own ignorance, it's what makes America great!"
"There are more love songs than anything else. If songs could make you do something we'd all love one another."
"There is no hell. There is only France."

Sick and tired of being sick and tired?

The more I travel around the rooms of AA in Sydney the more people I meet who don't have any idea of the principles of AA. Many think it is some sort of cult. Far from it. If you have a problem with addiction it is the most successful program of recovery known. Give it a try. It's worked for me for nearly 13 years now. It works by one alcoholic sharing their experience, strength and hope with another. It's a fellowship based on unconditional love and support and is spiritual in nature.

Here is the Preamble of AA which is read out at every single meeting worldwide:

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.

Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Edith Bouvier Beale

I love these women. They remind me so much of two friends from the seventies, Jessica and Marina. They were "twins" from different mothers.
